tutorial hw with little squares

This was the exercise we did with simon with little squares we had to draw and then blow up with the photocopier and then he asked us to take photos of them in different places.

Tabloid project

This was my groups tabloid project. I loved thi idea because it got everyone to get to know each other and work together. We had a laugh and it was really fun. I have made some good friends from it and i hope we do something like this again. It worked out really well and i think we captured the picture quite well. The only problem was the lighting, it could have been darker.

Sas Christian imitation

After looking at Sas Christian's work. I decided to try and draw one of her paintings. i really like her style, but i found it hard to get the proportions correct to how she does them. I like this drawing i have done and i think this has inspired me for my painting workshop.

Sas Christian

I came across this artist when i was looking at Lempicka's work. And i find her work really quite inspiring. I love how she paints her subjects with oversized features but still seems to make them realistic and cature the emotion. Most of her work looks like it is from a horror film but i like how she makes it look terrifiing.

Tamara De Lempicka

Lempicka is also one of my favourite artists. I love how some of her subject are not stunning but she still seems to make them look beautiful. It is quite obvious that her subjects have posed for the painting and they all seem to be very wealthy. I like the colours she uses, the are vibrant and rich looking. Her painting technique is very smooth.

Lock...

I also took this photograph in my photography workshop. I like this one because it is very eerie and dramatic. It is an abondened building that has been forgotten. The broken staircase gives it that dangerous edge. Also i like the graffiti on the wall that says "lock...". It is mysterious as there is just one word and you don't know what the meaning is behind it. It could mean anything, which is why the image is so interesting as there could be so many interpretations to it.

Broken window

I took this photograph in my photography workshop with a digital camera. I really like this image, i think it gives a more dramatic atmosphere in black and white. I like how the shards of glass are reflected repeatedly on the glass behind. The reflection of the building opposite gives you the impression that there is a story to the building opposite.

Suspicious Boy (1994)

I really like this one of Howson's. I find it very unusual and sort of eerie. I had never heard of woodcut on paper before and it sounds like an interesting media to use. I like how the image is made up of lots of fine little carvings, it make the picture so much more interesting.

Peter Howson

This is on of my favourite artists. I like how howson chooses very intense emotional subjects to paint. A lot of his work does not look very realistic but it still makes you feel the emotion of the paintingi I love how he shows the pain and suffering of the person throough their body. He shows them with exagerated pertruding bones and veins. He really shows that this person is starving. There is so much detail in howson's work, he seems to make every line perfect.
